Preserve The Culture: VIVA VIGAN!

Vigan City is known as a Heritage City and one of the oldest town in the Philippines. The Vigan City Fiesta is held every January 25. It is an every year event that is prepared by the local government with the help of the local industries and communities. The fiesta usually lasts for several days. Of course when we talk about festival, the cultural shows, parade, street dancing, food products, arts, and craft exhibit are the first things that come into our minds that made us all excited.

Participants from the different neighboring provinces in the northern region are also sent to compete in the various games and activities, particularly the street dancing competition. Longganisa Festival is included in the festive program. During the festival, every tourist has a chance to try authentic longganisa from Vigan. They celebrate the festival with street dancing and other activities that have Vigan longganisa theme which are attended by thousands of local and foreign visitors.

Due to the increasing rate of the COVID 19 virus, they tend to carry out the fiesta in a different way. The pandemic has affected as a huge effect because everything has changed. Importantly we need to follow the health protocols. Gatherings are not allowed so they couldn’t risk our lives and health for celebrating the festival we used to, but even in this situation, the fiesta was still celebrated.

Doing the protocol and staying safe is the number one priority of all for we want our life to be back to normal again.

Pollution, floods, erosion, global warming, climate change and many to mention are just some of the biggest problems our world is facing today. We are aware of these issues but people couldn’t stop doing the things that causes the issues. Every day we produce tons of Garbage waste and throw it anywhere recklessly. Doing illegal things like deforestation suffocates nature. Saving our earth and its environment becomes highly important as it provides us food and water to sustain life. Our well-being solely depends on this planet it gives food and water to all living things to it is our responsibility to take care of it. We have the responsibility to take care of it and not the opposite because we are the stewards of God’s creation. There’s no excuse for doing illegal things that could make the ecosystem suffer. Instead of doing that, why not do things that’ll restore the ecosystem? There are m...

Women Rise Up (Thematic Output)

In society, women tended to be known as weaker than men. Men are labeled as the stronger ones, they be looking up to for they were known for being hardworking, which is assigned on doing the harder works, and believed that women can’t. Women then were so limited in their actions, they depend on men, they are conservative, so-called Maria Clara. In this vision of society, discrimination against women is created. We are all influenced by gender, gender norms tell us what is appropriate for boys and girls, women and men to do in society. Because of this, girls and women are often less valued and have lower social status. Women suffer the most of the negative impact of the gender norms and roles, they are more likely to experience restrictions of their freedom and mobility, have fewer opportunities to choose how to live their lives. As time goes by, the stereotype of women was slowly breaking. Living in 20th century, where women as a leader, women as the ones who are wor...
